There are a number of establishments specializing in a Home-away-from-home experience for travelers. Before you can choose the correct establishment for you, you need to know the differences between their categories:

Airport Hotels

An Airport Hotel is a hotel near the airport. The hotel does not have to be connected to the airport (although some are) or even adjacent to it; it could be located up to five miles away. Most airport hotels have a shuttle to and from the terminals.

Bed and Breakfast / Home stays

A bed and breakfast (typically shortened to B&B or BnB) is a small lodging establishment that offers overnight accommodation and breakfast. Bed and breakfasts are often private family homes and typically have between four and eleven rooms, with six being the average.

Business Hotels

Business hotels are hotels located near the business district of the country/region they are in. They focus primarily on businessmen, not providing too much family rooms. They are sure to provide you with fast internet and silent rooms, if they are good at least. Most of them also offer conference rooms etc.

Casino Hotels

A casino hotel is an establishment consisting of a casino with temporary lodging provided in an on-premises hotel. Customers receive the benefits of both gambling facilities and lodging. Since the casino and hotel are located on the same premises, all the gambler’s necessities can be provided in one location.

Conference and Convention Center’s

A convention center (American English; conference centre outside the USA) is a large building that is designed to hold a convention, where individuals and groups gather to promote and share common interests. Convention centers typically offer sufficient floor area to accommodate several thousand attendees.

Extended Stay Hotels

An apartment hotel (also residential hotel, or extendedstay hotel) is a serviced apartment complex that uses a hotel-style booking system. It is similar to renting an apartment, but with no fixed contracts and occupants can “check-out” whenever they wish.

Resort Hotels

The resort hotel is a luxury facility that is intended primarily for vacationers and is usually located near special attractions, such as beaches and seashores, scenic or historic areas, ski parks, or spas. Though some resorts operate on a seasonal basis, the majority now try to operate all year-round.

Serviced Apartments

A serviced apartment is a completely furnished apartment available for both short-term and long- term stays. They are inclusive of utility bills and provide all of the hotel-like amenities such as maid service, reception and 24 hour customer service.

Suite Hotels

A suite in a hotel or other public accommodation denotes, according to most dictionary definitions, connected rooms under one room number. … In luxury or upscale accommodations, such as Ritz Carlton, InterContinental, Marriott, or Embassy Suites, key features may include multiple rooms.

Time share / Vacation Rentals

A Vacation Rental or Time Share is the renting out of a furnished apartment, house, or professionally managed resort-condominium complex on a temporary basis to tourists as an alternative to a hotel.


A commercial establishment offering lodging to travelers and sometimes to permanent residents, and often having restaurants, meeting rooms, stores, etc., that are available to the general public.
